In Across the Leagues today:
Our weekend European jaunt in the Win & Both Teams to Score markets proved worthwhile, with two out of three winning selections from Friday’s Trixie .
And all three of our nominated teams delivered in the standard match-win betting, for a 5/1+ treble.
Those results:
Getafe 0 REAL MADRID 1
Stade Brest 1 LORIENT 2
Cremonese 1 NAPOLI 4
From the Win & Both Teams to Score Trixie, made up of four lines (three doubles and a treble), Lorient @ 24/5 (5.8) x Napoli @ 21/10 (3.1) paid out for a winning double at over 16/1, albeit at small stakes.
In what was a welcome winning weekend overall for our picks, Jonson Clarke-Harris scored again for Peterborough. He remains the top scorer in League One, and as highlighted in last week’s analysis – a more profitable scorer bet than Manchester City’s Erling Haaland . Both men scored on Saturday. Clarke-Harris at a best price of 5/4 (2.25), compared to just 1/3 (1.33) for Haaland.
The Peterborough striker also landed the First Goalscorer odds once again, at 4/1 (5.0). Jonson Clarke-Harris remains a man to follow in League One. Here’s the updated Top Scorer chart on our website :
League One top scorer – Jonson Clarke-Harris:

Beyond the 17 leagues covered by the bet-specific stats on our members-only website at www.acrosstheleagues.co.uk . I also of course keep an eye on what’s happening elsewhere in the football world. Especially when there’s a winning streak or standout statistic to report…
Sat on my sofa dunking Tesco own-brand chocolate biscuits and watching Sky Sports on Saturday afternoon, my ears pricked up when Jeff Stelling mentioned the remarkable scoring run of Elgin forward, Kane Hester…
While Harry Kane gets more headlines, Elgin’s Kane is right in the goals this season:
In Elgin’s last home game, against Annan, Hester banged in FOUR goals. Elgin City’s next two games are both at home. Taking on Albion Rovers on Tuesday evening, and then hosting Forfar this coming Saturday.
The only problem is… I can’t find a market anywhere! Let me know if you find a bookmaker that’s offering Anytime or First Scorer markets for Scottish League Two games. I pride myself on my market-finding abilities online. But no dice so far. I guess you could always go traditional, and ask over the counter…
One division in the Scottish lower leagues where you can get a Scorer bet is in the Championship. And there’s another in-form player to look out for here:
On Saturday, Dipo Akinyemi bagged a hat-trick in Ayr’s 5-0 home win v Queen’s Park.
The next assignment will be away at Dundee this weekend (Sat 15th Oct). As I write, Bet365 are first up with a market, with Akinyemi on offer at 21/10 (3.1) to score Anytime. Considering William Hill paid out on him at 10/11 (1.91) on Saturday, that 21/10 price looks worth taking. I’ve included it in the bet-box below. Lookout for other firms pricing up between now and the weekend.
Concentrating on the Tuesday fixtures now, and one player I want to follow in the matchday Scorer markets at odds-against prices is Christopher Nkunku…
The RB Leipzig forward scored in the 3-1 home victory against Celtic last week. He’s been a regular performer for the German side for a while now, the club’s top scorer in the German Bundesliga last season, with 20 goals. The 24-year-old French forward is also leading the way for Leipzig in the current campaign:
Nkunku also made a name for himself in the Champions League last season, firing in seven goals across six games in the Group stage for Leipzig, including a hat-trick at Man City. Odds in the region of 9/5 (2.8) appeal for Christopher to find the net at Celtic Park.
