Rain stops play at the Spaghettihad…

Just a quick update from me today, before we get into the big business of targeting the weekend fixtures tomorrow…

Livingston streaks remain intact...

Livingston v Aberdeen was called off (again) last night.

After a frozen playing surface at the Tony Macaroni Arena on 30th December. This time, a late inspection saw a waterlogged pitch as the culprit, at what Across the Leagues member Paul assures me the locals refer to as the ‘Spaghettihad.’

The fact remains then, that Livingston are on an 8-game winning streak in all competitions since David Martindale took over. And an 11-game run in the Scottish Premiership for Under 10.5 Corners results.

Next up for Livingston, weather and pandemic permitting, a league double-header against Celtic. Away on Saturday, then at home next Wednesday.

Mansfield hitting form…

In England, Oldham v Mansfield went ahead last night. The game ended 3-2 to Mansfield, easily franking the Both Teams to Score form that we discussed yesterday.

  • Both Teams to Score has now paid out in 8 of Oldham’s last 9 games in all comps

Oldham are a funny one this season. On the road, their record in League Two is an impressive W6 D2 L2. But at home, the Latics have struggled. Their Boundary Park league form reads W2 D1 L9.

This weekend, Oldham go to Walsall.

Mansfield managed 3 goals in that victory last night, but none of them went to my 4/1+ Anytime Scorer pick George Lapslie this time. Defender Ryan Sweeney, midfielder Harry Charsley, and forward Jamie Reid were the men on target for the Stags. Striker Jordan Bowery also missed a penalty.

Nigel Clough’s Mansfield side have now won 4 games in a row. Putting them level with Morecambe on our League Two last-5-games Form table:

Mansfield will have to wait to keep up their run. Saturday’s fixture against Carlisle has been postponed due to a coronavirus outbreak in the Carlisle camp.

Morecambe go to Leyton Orient this weekend, looking for a fifth straight victory.

I’ll be back on Friday afternoon with my full Weekend Preview for you…

See you tomorrow.

Best wishes,

Oliver Upstone
