In Across the Leagues today:
Countdowns everywhere...
New-boys deliver in round 2....
Weekend fixtures in our sights…
Good afternoon. I'm back from my family visit to to the Peak District. I can confirm the reservoir levels are looking okay...
You would think I've been in this betting game long enough to not let 'ones that got away' bother me. But I felt that all-too-familiar pang when I checked the Premier League stats & scores over the weekend...
In week one, I flagged up three of the most-carded men from the newly-promoted clubs: Sam Morsy for Ipswich, Jan Bednarek for Southampton, and Jannik Vestergaard for Leicester City. The day-one treble was worth north of 33/1... but came up dry.
You know what happened next...
All three players got booked in week two. If you just-so-happened to keep Morsy, Bednarek, and Vestergaard in mind for your latest betting activity, then please do let me know (!). That would make my day.

Elsewhere, some of last season's most-booked Premier League players have been at it again already. I listed nine names here.
The most-booked man of 2023/24, Bournemouth's Argentinean centre-back Marcos Senesi picked up a first yellow of 2024/25 on Sunday.
Maybe the old stereotype about South American players 'liking a tackle' still rings true...
As well as Senesi (Bournemouth/ Argentina), the likes of Joao Gomes (Wolves/ Brazil), and Moises Caicedo (Chelsea/ Ecuador) have both collected yellow cards already in the new Premier League campaign.
Plenty of food for thought there.
I'll be working on the stats, markets, and prices ahead of this weekend's upcoming league fixtures.
And before that, a couple of big countdowns to consider - and I don't mean the Oasis tickets going on sale (9am Saturday in the UK, by the way)...
The Champions League Group Stage draw will be made on Thursday, with UEFA's men in suits no doubt trying to make their new 'expanded' (or bloated) group format sound as glamorous and exciting as possible...
Followed, of course, by everyone at Sky Sports going into an almost worryingly manic frenzy over the fact that this weekend the Transfer Window will, most definitely, SLAM SHUT. If you could spread bet on that phrase being used in the media this week, we'd be millionaires, Rodney...
I'll see you later in the week - and for sure with bet advice on Friday.
