The most reliable man in the game...

Monday 25th January 2021

In Across the Leagues today:

  • Immobile finds the net yet again…
  • German scorers…
  • Midweek action coming up…

The most reliable man in the game…

Ciro Immobile scored again for Lazio yesterday.

The Italian striker has a remarkable record over the last two seasons. In 2019/20, he was Top Goalscorer in Serie A.

So far in 2020/21, the 30-year-old has continued to bang in the goals…

  • Immobile has scored a total of 18 goals in 21 games for Lazio this season

He’s on a remarkable run right now. Finding the net in 16 of his last 18 appearances.

That includes 8 Anytime Scorer payouts from his last 10 games in Serie A. With 5 of those also landing the odds for First Goalscorer.

Immobile may be a couple of goals behind Cristiano Ronaldo (Juventus) in the top scorer standings in the Italian top flight, with 13 league goals compared to 15 for Ronaldo. But in terms of the betting markets, the tables on our website show that Immobile is the top man in Serie A for Anytime Scorer payouts:

Serie A Scorers Stats...

And Immobile is also ranked No.1 for First Goalscorer. Landing first-goal bets on 6 occasions. Which is 3 more than Ronaldo, and one ahead of Zlatan Ibrahimovic (AC Milan).

To find a comparable scorer in the European top leagues right now, we have to turn to a much better-known name on the international stage:

  • Robert Lewandowski has scored in 10 of his last 12 games for Bayern Munich in all competitions

Lewandowski is top scorer in the German Bundesliga with 23 goals from 17 appearances. Delivering a league-best 14 Anytime Scorer payouts. And joint-1st for First Goalscorer (5).

Lazio and Immobile are next in action this coming weekend, away to Atalanta in Serie A.

Bayern Munich and Lewandowski are at home v Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga.

If you’re looking for a straight-up reliable Scorer bet right now, then in terms of pure strike-rates, those two men are top of the list.

Talking of reliable men…

I don’t follow American Football much, but I know a couple of people that do. Last night’s NFL ‘semi finals’ saw Tampa Bay Buccaneers reach the Super Bowl for the first time in 18 years…

Tampa Bay signed up NFL legend Tom Brady this season. The 43-year-old (!) quarterback will now contest a record 10th Super Bowl, and go for a record 7th win.

According to my NFL-loving colleague Shaun, Brady guiding Tampa Bay to the top is the equivalent of say, Cristiano Ronaldo joining West Ham – and steering the Hammers to the top of the Premier League.

The lesson here? Sometimes, you just can’t mess with the best. Or as one NFL pundit puts it – there’s only one man that he never bets against, and that’s Brady.

Of course, when it comes to betting, it’s not just strike-rates that you’re after. We want prices that pay, too…

On that topic, less well-known names can continue to serve us well in the Scorer markets, for example. Including three of the Bundesliga players that we discussed in last week’s analysis:

  • Andrej Kramaric scored another 2 goals for Hoffenheim. He’s now got 4 goals in his last 2 games, with 2 of them from the penalty spot
  • Luka Jovic came off the bench to score again for Eintracht Frankfurt. That’s the second time he’s done that in 3 games, since returning to Frankfurt on loan this month
  • Andre Silva drew a blank when I backed him to score Anytime in the 2-2 draw at Freiburg last Wednesday. On Saturday, he got back down to business, bagging a brace in a 3-1 away win for Frankfurt – including the First goal

Silva (14 goals) and Kramaric (12) are two of the men in the chasing pack behind Lewandowski in the Bundesliga scorer charts.

Midweek action coming up…

There’s another round of German top-flight action coming up this weekend. And before that, we have a stacked midweek fixture list to enjoy…

Including a full Premier League schedule across Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday – with all 10 games being shown live on BT Sport.

Plus, midweek fixtures in the EFL, and Scottish Premiership.

I’ll be in touch every day this week. With my latest analysis, standout stats from our website, and my take on the match-day markets and prices.

See you tomorrow.

Enjoy the football…

Best wishes,
