Looking for zero cards in the Premier League…

The top European leagues are going on hold during the World Cup. In Spain, La Liga have already packed up until New Year. The English Premier League, Scottish Premiership, Italian Serie A, German Bundesliga & co all have a final round of pre-Qatar fixtures this weekend.

In English Leagues One & Two, it’ll be pretty much business as usual during the World Cup. Meaning we’ll have the stats on our site to guide us for those divisions as play continues. Alongside the dedicated, match-by-match analysis that I’ll be providing in your daily Across the Leagues World Cup coverage.

As noted in Tuesday’s email, we should keep an eye out for some low Total Cards results in the Premier League this weekend. With star players obviously keen to avoid injury ahead of the World Cup…

As good a starting place as any for ‘tackling’ this weekend’s games with this angle is by consulting the Under 3.5 Cards and Total Yellow Cards tables on our website…

Five teams stand out as top performers for Under 3.5 Cards payouts so far this season in the Premier League:

Last weekend, two of the 10 top-flight games paid out on No Cards in the ‘First Card’ or ‘First Player Carded’ market, with both matches featuring one of those best-behaved sides: Tottenham v Liverpool, and Everton v Leicester.

On recent form, three teams have been keeping it very clean:

  • If we include this week’s EFL Cup game, where the Reds fielded a much-changed line-up, bets on No Cards have paid out in 4 of Liverpool’s last 7 games in all competitions
  • Leicester are on a run of 3 ‘zero’ bookings games in a row, in all comps
  • 2 of Man City’s last 4 games have also paid out on No Cards
