Weekend Preview: Standout Stats in the Premier League…

Viktor Gyokeres hit the post on Tuesday night. If you watched the game, you’ll know doubt agree that Arsenal were the vastly superior side (they won 5-!) - but also that Viktor did look sharp up front for Sporting, whenever he got a sniff…

In the Anytime Scorer market, we got best odds of 15/8 (2.88) for Gyokeres in that match. In comparison, this weekend, he’s an odds-on favourite to score in the Portuguese Liga for Sporting, at 8/13 (1.62) at best with Bet365.

If you don’t mind the shorter price, I could certainly see Viktor Gyokeres adding to his amazing scoring streak again, sooner rather than later.

Talking of going in again…

We’ve recently had three out of four winners by following Tottenham’s Brennan Johnson across two markets: Anytime Scorer, and To be Carded. The talented but maybe short-tempered 23-year-old is on a noteworthy run when it comes to that two-pronged betting tactic. After finding the net again for Spurs last night, Johnson has now landed a profit from that two-bet combination in 12 of his last 17 games in all competitions for club & country.

Again, price comes into play here. Over the last fortnight, Brennan has landed us Anytime Scorer payouts at top prices of 3/1 (4.0) and 7/2 (4.5). This weekend, the bookies make him more like 2/1 (3.0) to score at home v Fulham.

Looking forward to next week…

The FA Cup 2nd Round takes out a large chunk of Football League sides this weekend. Never fear though, the action comes hard and fast in these divisions, and especially at this time of year…

Leagues One & Two return on Tuesday night. Along with a full midweek fixture list in the Premier League from Tuesday through to Thursday. We’re getting set for a busy week coming up!

We tend to get involved in the FA Cup once the 3rd Round comes along in January. For this weekend’s picks, we’re focusing on the action in the English top-flight. Starting with the live game this evening…

Brighton v Southampton

Premier League, TONIGHT 8pm - Sky Sports

Standout stats:

  • Southampton have got the Most Cards/ Booking Points in 5 of their 6 away games this season. That’s the most prolific away record in the Premier League for this bet
  • Brighton on the other hand have only received the Most Cards/ Booking Points in one of their 6 at home, and in just 2 out of 12 league games overall in 2024/25

Southampton are the Cards pick tonight…

Somewhat confusingly, different bookies present this bet in different ways - see the end of the email for markets and prices.

Find out more about Cards & Booking Points betting in our guide here.

Wolves v Bournemouth

Premier League, Sat 3pm

Standout stats:

  • Wolves have been out-cornered in 11 games in a row in all comps, and are averaging just 2.7 Corners For per game at home in the Premier League
  • The Molineux club are the worst in the league when it comes to winning corner kicks. They’re none from 12 attempts in terms of landing the Most Corners or Corners Match Bet. And Wolves are rock bottom of the 20 teams in the division for both Total Corners Won and Total Corners Won at Home
  • Visitors Bournemouth are averaging 6.5 Corners For per away game. The Cherries are capable of more than holding their own around the corner flags - for example, winning the corners battle 9-0 at Leicester this season, 9-3 at Liverpool, and most recently, 7-0 at home v (10-man) Brighton last weekend

We’ll take Bournemouth for the Most Corners at around Even Money (2.0). See below for bookies and best odds.

Liverpool v Man City

Premier League, Sun 4pm - Sky Sports

In today’s ATL Extra email we took note of Man City’s corner-winning record in this fixture. The historical head-to-head also highlights a City player for us, available at around 3/1 (4.0) To be Carded in this weekend’s big game at the top of the table…

Standout stats:

  • Bernardo Silva has been booked in 4 of his last 7 starts against Liverpool in all comps, including both league meetings last season
  • If we isolate his Premier League form in this fixture, then Silva’s card streak stands at 4 yellows in 5 starts v Liverpool

The 30-year-old Man City midfielder was also booked against Tottenham last weekend. With City up against it right now - six games without a win - Portuguese playmaker Silva could see less of the ball than he would like… and end up in the ref’s book once again.
