Weekend Preview - Win & Both Teams to Score at 114/1...

It was a good week for us in the FA Cup. We’ve backed two Each Way outsiders in the Outright Winner market, and they’re both through to the quarter finals…

Our 66/1 & 60/1 pick Sheffield United beat Bristol City, 1-0. The Blades are now 40/1 & 33/1.

And 28/1 & 25/1 selection Southampton won 2-0 at Wolves. The Saints are now 14/1 & 12/1.

The quarter finals will be held on the weekend of 20th March. Sheff Utd go to Chelsea, and Southampton travel to Championship side Bournemouth.

There’s some big-odds excitement for us there. And if it’s large prices you like, then I’ve got a 100/1+ Win & Both Teams to Score combo that will prick your interest this weekend.

See below for my take on the weekend fixtures, stats, and opportunities.

Corners clash at the Amex…

Brighton v Aston Villa is an interesting one on the Most Corners stats this weekend.

These sides are in the Top 5 on our Premier League table for this market. Brighton have an eye-catching 91% home record for winning the Most Corners. Villa have paid out on the Corners Match Bet in 7 of their 11 away games (64%).

The bookies have the Seagulls as the favorites, with William Hill the best Brighton price, at 10/11 (1.91). Betway are an industry-best 6/4 (2.5) for Villa to boss the corners. The value could lie with the away team there. But it’s not enough to tempt me in.

Penalty takers in Germany…

Wolfsburg v Borussia Monchengladbach is a pretty big game for both teams. Wolfsburg are 3rd in the Bundesliga, and M’gladbach are 7th. Both have aspirations of Europe and a high league finish this season.

Two men stand out for me in the Anytime Scorer market. And both are the no.1 penalty taker for their respective sides…

Wout Weghorst is a regular in my Across the Leagues write-ups. He’s having a great season, joint-3rd in the Bundesliga top scorers chart, with 14 goals. The big Dutchman is a threat from headers, and as well as classic striker tap-ins. He’s scored three penalties in the league this season.

  • Weghorst has scored in 6 of his last 7 games in all competitions, and in 12 of his last 16. That strike-rate makes odds of 13/10 (2.3) plenty fair enough here

Lars Stindl is an important player for Monchengladbach. The German attacking midfielder is top scorer for his club this season, with a total of 12 goals in all comps. Six of those have come from the penalty spot.

  • A potentially noteworthy angle in this one: Stindl has gone 5 games without scoring. So far this season, he hasn’t gone more than 5 games without finding the net…

Odds of 13/5 (3.6) to end the ‘drought’ appeal here.

Win & Both Teams to Score contenders…

I’m returning to my three-pronged plan of attack in the English Football League (EFL) this weekend, with the carrot of a huge-price payout in the Win & Both Teams to Score market (Win & BTTS).

This has proved a profitable tactic so far this season, with five payouts, and an overall 47% ROI. Slotting the three targeted games into a trio of trebles:

Match Win
Both Teams to Score
Win & Both Teams to Score

Brentford v Barnsley (Championship, Sun 1pm)

  • Brentford are top of the Championship, and also ranked No.1 on our site for Win & BTTS, with 10 payouts. Each of their last 4 games have gone this way, winning with goals at both ends. Barnsley are 5 league matches without a win

Brentford to Win & Both Teams to Score is 11/4 (3.75) and 13/5 (3.6).

Sunderland v Doncaster Rovers (League One, Sat 3pm)

  • Doncaster are the No.1 team in League One for Win & BTTS, with 9 payouts. Sunderland are home-win favourites here, but Rovers have won more away games this term than the Black Cats have at home. Sunderland have lost 5 games in total in League One this season, and 4 of them have delivered for Win & BTTS - including 3 at the Stadium of Light

Doncaster to Win & Both Teams to Score is 7/1 (8.0) and 13/2 (7.5).

Cambridge v Southend (League Two, Sat 3pm)

  • Cambridge have produced 7 Win & BTTS results at home this season, the highest number in the division. Six of their last 8 league wins overall have been by the 2-1 Correct Score. Southend have lost 4 of their last 5 games

Cambridge to Win & Both Teams to Score is 3/1 (4.0).

Take your pick…

As ever, there are multiple ways to play those Win & BTTS selections. At the prices, Singles may well appeal to you. As well as Doubles, Trixies, and any number of combination options.

I’m going with my three-pronged approach as outlined above. It’s served me well so far...
