Win & BTTS Update - Northampton v Carlisle moved to tonight…

Good afternoon. Just a quick update from me, as I seem to have come down with something. It’s Lemsip time. Maybe that dramatic World Cup final did me in…

In last week’s league update I put up a weekend Trixie on three top-rated teams from our Win & Both Teams to Score stats - Celtic, Plymouth & Northampton:

  • The Celtic leg lost (Aberdeen 0 Celtic 1)
  • The Plymouth leg won (Plymouth 2 Morecambe 1)
  • And due to the weather, Northampton v Carlisle was moved from Saturday to Tuesday (tonight, 7.45pm)...

That means the Northampton leg of our Trixie is either still Open (eg. Bet365), or Void (eg. William Hill, Skybet, BetVictor). Those were the four bookies I listed with the best prices last Thursday.

Referring to the rules published on their respective websites, William Hill and Skybet only keep bets open if the match is played within 48 hours (which is not the case with this Saturday-Tuesday shift, so it’s void). BetVictor’s rules simply state that bets on Postponed matches are void.

While Bet365’s rules state that they keep bets open for five days, unless the bet is ‘cancelled by mutual consent’:

Bet365's Rules

Meaning the 18/1 double on Plymouth & Northampton is still on tonight, if you placed last week’s Trixie with Bet365.

With the other three firms mentioned - William Hill, Skybet, BetVictor - the void Northampton leg will have fallen out of your Trixie. Turning the three doubles and treble into this instead - two singles and two doubles:

Celtic single - lost
Plymouth single - won
Celtic & Plymouth double - lost
Celtic & Plymouth double - lost

Your choices today, if your Northampton leg was void:

  • Do nothing (approx. 1-pt loss from 4-leg Trixie)
  • Back Northampton Win & Both Teams to Score as a standalone single bet for the game v Carlisle this evening (eg. a normal 1-pt stake)
  • Or, put all of your Plymouth returns (eg. approx. 3-pts) on Northampton Win & Both Teams to Score today. Effectively recreating what would originally have been a double on Plymouth & Northampton

If you placed the original Trixie with Bet365, then you don’t need to do anything. But as ever, the advice is to check your own account with your own bookmaker (and their rules).

I’ll be back on Friday with your preview & picks for next Monday’s Boxing Day games.
