A twinge of excitement at 100/1...

Monday 9th October 2023

In Across the Leagues EXTRA today:

  • 6 out of 8 – and nearly a very Super Sunday…
  • Both Teams to Score stats in League Two…
  • Two extraordinary scorers in Europe…

A twinge of excitement at 100/1…

Good news! My car passed its MOT today. But of course, the good news I’d really like to have been writing to you about today would have been a 100/1 winner…

If you followed our Premier League Predictor Acca over the weekend, then you’ll have seen our close-but-no-cigar moment unfold before your eyes on Sky Sports…

With news of Newcastle’s equaliser at West Ham landing Both Teams to Score in that game, we were facing the following tantalising Super Sunday situation:

Liverpool hang on to their 2-1 lead at Brighton in the 2pm game…

And then Man City beat Arsenal to land the 105/1 acca…

Alas, it wasn’t to be.

Brighton equalised on 78 mins, drawing 2-2 with Liverpool. (And then Arsenal went and beat Man City anyway – ending a 12-match Premier League losing streak against the Etihad club.)

For a while there though, that massive acca was looking ‘on.’

Six out of eight legs at 100/1 ain’t bad.

  • Maybe you got a Cashout offer from your bookie? Let me know if you were able to act fast on Sunday afternoon and make some money from that acca!

I’ve already heard from Across the Leagues member John B, who was eyeing up a saver bet on Arsenal Double Chance, should the acca have gone to the final, 4.30pm game.

And Chris B emailed in today to say he managed to make a profit from the situation.

“Hi Oliver, so close with the 8 timer. However, once Newcastle scored, and leg 6 in the bag, I swooped as soon as Liverpool went in front 2-1, struck a lay bet and effectively won £100 once the game ended in a draw. If Liverpool had won, my plan was to lay Man City for a £200 profit if the 8 timer went down.I place £10 every week on the roll up, so won £90 this week.

Really enjoy the service.

Chris”

Good work, Chris!

There’s no Premier League this weekend. But the Friday Predictor email and accompanying Weekend Acca will return on Friday 20th October, once the International break is over.

In the meantime, over on the members-only service we will be focusing on the stats for the lower leagues. Looking to plunder trends like these in League Two:

  • After a 1-1 draw at Barrow on Saturday, Notts County stay joint-top of our League two standings for Both Teams to Score bets. Paying out with goals at both ends in 10 out of 12 games (83%)
  • And after a 4-2 defeat at Salford, Crewe join Notts County for a share of 1st place for Both Teams to Score. With that result also being their 10th BTTS score-line of the season in League Two (83%)

Two extraordinary scorers in Europe…

I should also point out two exceptional scoring stats from the European leagues right now…

These two guys seemingly can’t stop scoring:

  • In Spain, Real Madrid’s 20-year-old wonderkid Jude Bellingham scored a brace at the weekend. The hyper-talented England midfielder is Top Scorer in La Liga as it stands, having started the season at 100/1. Bellingham has got 8 league goals from 8 appearances. Overall, young Jude has landed Anytime Scorer bets in 9 out of 12 apps for club & country in all competitions this season
  • In Germany, Stuttgart striker Sehrou Guirassy has been bothering the record books, too. Banging in a remarkable 13 goals in 7 games in the Bundesliga. That includes a hat-trick on Saturday – his second of the campaign, already! The goal-scoring exploits of the 27-year-old Guinea international have helped propel Stuttgart to 2nd in the table. And unsurprisingly, Guirassy sits clear in 1st place on the Top Scorer chart right now – 5 goals ahead of Bayern Munich’s big summer signing, an Englishman called Harry Kane… interestingly, Bet365 still make Kane the odds-on favourite to finish top of the pile…
