Premier League Predictions - including Man Utd v Man City...

Friday 11th December 2020

In Across the Leagues EXTRA today:

  • Big Match Stats…
  • Premier League Predictions…
  • 80/1 Weekend Acca…

The Premier League is fast and furious right now…

This weekend’s action kicks off with Leeds v West Ham on Sky Sports tonight (8pm).

And next week is ‘Amazon Week’ – with a full set of midweek games all live on Amazon Prime Video across Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday.

The big match this Saturday is the Manchester derby. Let’s take a look at some of the standout stats and prices…

Big Match Stats:

Manchester United v Manchester City

Saturday 5.30pm – Sky Sports

Match odds: United 7/2 (4.5), Draw 16/5 (4.2), City 8/11 (1.73)

Man City are the bookies’ odds-on favourites for the away win. And that’s the unanimous view in our weekend Predictions table, too (see below).

However, Man Utd fans will point to recent history, with United doing the league double over their sky-blue rivals last season, 2-0 at home and 2-1 away.

Most Corners:

The Head-2-Head home v away stats in the members-only zone of our Across the Leagues website show that:

  • United have won the Most Corners in 4 out of 5 Premier League home games this season (80%)
  • City have won the Most Corners in 5 out of 5 away games (100%)

In the Most Corners or ‘Corners Match Bet’ markets for Saturday’s derby at Old Trafford, the bookmakers have City as overwhelming favourites, at 4/11 (1.36) at best with BetVictor.

United, in stark comparison, are around 3/1 (4.0) and 7/2 (4.5) in general for that bet, and a top price 4/1 (5.0) with Skybet.

There’s a history-book stat that puts a question mark by City’s short price here:

  • Man City have only won the Most Corners on 2 of their last 7 visits to Old Trafford in all competitions

Anytime Scorer:

Man City striker Sergio Aguero is the Even Money (2.0) favourite in the Anytime Scorer list for this game. But in his most recent comments this week, after a just-back-from-injury Aguero scored in the Champions League, City boss Pep Guardiola said that the Argentinean wouldn’t be starting in the derby. You never know, though.

For the red half of Manchester, two men stand out in particular. Especially with odds of 5/2+ (3.5+) each available:

  • Local hero Marcus Rashford has scored in 4 out of 8 starts against City in all comps. Rashford has found in 3 of his last 5 games for United (one penalty)
  • Bruno Fernandes has scored in 9 out of 17 games for United this season, bagging a total of 11 goals – with 5 from the penalty spot. He’s scored in 4 of his last 6 appearances (2 pens)

If Man Utd get a penalty on Saturday, it’ll be interesting to see who gets the ball…

In recent times, Rashford and Fernandes have been the go-to men for Man Utd on big occasions, and when in sticky situations. The stats and form say you could do a lot worse than cover these two men on Saturday. At the prices, one finding the net would turn a profit.

Big Match Stats summary:

  • Anytime Scorer: Marcus Rashford is 11/4 (3.75) with Betway, 13/5 (3.6) Skybet, BetVictor, Betfred, Ladbrokes, Coral
  • Anytime Scorer: Bruno Fernandes is 5/2 (3.5) with Boylesports, Paddy Power, Betfair Sportsbook, 12/5 (3.4) Bet365, Betway
