Your Guide to the Bookies - and Cards bets explained...

Friday 14th November 2014

In your Prem10 weekend email today:

  • Next week – the Premier League is back for good...
  • Cards or Booking Points – what’s the difference?
  • Your Prem10 Guide to the Bookies...

With no Premier League games for us to bet on this weekend, I’m taking the opportunity today to answer some of your questions on the bets, stats and markets we cover in Prem10.

This will help you find our weekly Recommended Bets on the bookies’ websites as quickly and easily as possible. And help make sure you always know what you’re looking for. See below for your Guide to the Bookies.

Starting next week...

After this weekend, there are no more Euro 2016 Qualifiers until March – so we have a fantastic winter of Premier League football to look forward to every week...

The months from November onwards are historically the most reliable for the match stats that we focus on – we are just 11 rounds into the 38-week season, meaning there are dozens of moneymaking opportunities ahead.

  • Lookout for your next Recommended Bets email next Friday, 21st Nov, when the Premier League returns. Arsenal v Man Utd will be among the games we’re looking to cash-in on.

Cards or Booking Points – what’s the difference?

Before we get onto our bookies guide, here’s the answer to one of the most common questions we get from your fellow Prem10 members:

What’s the difference between Cards and Booking Points bets?

Bookies generally use two different scoring systems for Cards and Booking Points bets...

Cards:

For example, for Total Cards bets at Bet365:

Yellow Card = 1 Card
Red Card = 2 Cards
2 Yellows resulting in a Red Card for a player = 3 Cards

  • So if we are betting on Over 3.5 Cards in a game and there are 3 Yellow Cards and a straight Red Card, the Total Cards in that case would be 5 Cards (3 + 2).

Booking Points:

For example, for Total Booking Points bets at William Hill:

Yellow Card = 10 pts
Red Card = 25 pts
2 Yellows resulting in a Red Card for a player = 35 pts

  • So if we are betting on Over 35 Booking Points in a game and there are 3 Yellow Cards and a straight Red Card, the Total Booking Points in that case would be 55 pts (30 + 25).

Use the Betting Guide on our site...

You’ll also find those Cards and Booking Points explanations on our website, along with explanations of all the stats, bets and markets covered by our team data and match stats...

Use the Betting Guide page – where you’ll find a list of bet categories such as Goals, Corners, Cards & Bookings on the menu on the left-hand side of the screen.

Your Prem10 Guide to the Bookies...

Prem10 targets bets that the bookies DON’T tell you about in their radio adverts or shop windows – Corners, Cards, Bookings, Goal Times...

These types of bets ARE widely available with many of the well known high street and online bookies. And it’s our job to help you find them...

Which bookies do you need an account with?

The majority of our weekly Recommended Bets will be with:

Bet365

William Hill

Bet Victor

Paddy Power

Skybet

The more accounts you have, the more options you have for getting the best odds and best range of markets.

But if you were only going to have one or two betting accounts, then make those Bet365 or William Hill.

Where’s best for... Corners bets?

We mainly target two types of Corner markets – Total Corners (Under or Over) and Corner Handicaps.

The five bookies listed above all offer these markets for Premier League games. When a game is live on TV (which 4 – 5 game per weekend are), the range of markets available will be even bigger.

For Under or Over 10.5 Corners bets, Bet365 and Bet Victor are your first port of call.

For Corner Handicap bets, Bet365 and William Hill have the best range of options for all 10 Premier League games each weekend. Bet Victor, Paddy Power and Skybet also offer Corner Handicaps for TV games.

Where’s best for... Cards and Booking Points bets?

We mainly bet on two types of Cards or Bookings markets – Total Cards and Team with Most Booking Points.

For Under or Over 3.5 Cards markets, Bet365 are by far the best choice. But Total Cards/ Bookings options are also available with William Hill. And for certain TV games, the likes of Paddy Power, Ladbrokes, Coral, Unibet, Boylesports and Betway all offer these bets.

For Team with Most Booking Points bets, William Hill are top of the list. With Skybet, Ladbrokes, Boylesports and Betway all worth checking with, too, on match-days and for TV games. Bet365’s Card Handicap market offers the same bet, with a different name.

Where’s best for... Time of First Goal bets?

The Goal Time stats on our site often lead us to bets in the Time of First Goal market – where we can on bet Under or Over options around the 27th Minute mark...

The three bookies that consistently offer these bets for every Premier League game every week are Bet Victor, Paddy Power and Boylesports.

Where’s best for... everything else?

Bookies offer over 100 markets for every Premier League game. We target a wide range of markets, wherever our stats and research lead us to a strong betting opportunity. But in general our bets fall into the categories you’ll see on the Team Data and Head-2-Head pages on our site:

Match Results
Goals
Corners
Cards & Booking Points
Half Time stats
Player stats

We’ve listed the best bookies to use for Corners, Cards & Bookings and Goal Time bets above. For everything else – Match Result markets, Correct Scores, Under or Over 2.5 Goals, Both Teams to Score, Half Time results, First Goalscorer and Anytime Scorer bets – markets will be available with pretty much any bookmaker you choose to use.

In terms of the bookie that will give you the best odds, so far this season Bet Victor have consistently offered the best price in the Match Result markets.

  • If you haven’t got a BetVictor account yet, sign up this weekend and you can get Enhanced Odds of 5/1 for England to beat Slovenia on Saturday... take advantage of that offer here

How do I find the bets on bookies’ websites?

This is another question we get asked a lot. At first glance a bookies’ website can look like a minefield of sports, adverts and menus. But to home in on the Premier League bets we want to place, on most sites you simply need to...

Start with the Football or Soccer menu, then choose England and the Premier League...

From there you’ll see a list of the weekend games. Clicking on a specific game (or the ‘+100...’ link next to the game) will give you the full list of available markets...

Then it’s a case of scrolling down the screen to find the Corners/ Cards/ Bookings/ Goals, etc options that you are looking for.

Some bookies – like Bet365 and William Hill – helpfully offer menus taking you straight to the stats markets: Cards/ Bookings, Corners and Goals bets.

  • If you ever have any problems finding or placcing the bets that are in our weekly Recommended Bets email, drop us a line on a Friday afternoon and we’ll be happy to help. You can get in touch via our website here.
  • And remember, the Betting Guide on our site contains explanations to all the stats, bets and markets that we cover.

Lookout for your Recommended Bets next Friday...

I’ll be back next Friday, 21st November with your Recommended Bets for next weekend’s games. Plenty of strong stats for us to target – and we’ll be looking to cash-in on the best of them in your Friday email.

Until then,

Best wishes,
