Corner kings stay true to form...
A big weekend in the Premier League with bookies and pundits now taking Leicester City seriously in the title race...
After their impressive 3-1 win at reigning champions Man City, Leicester were cut from 5/1 (6.00) to 9/4 (3.25) at best for the title.
We avoided the short prices on Man City in the Match Result markets and instead followed the Corners stats, with Man City -3 Corner Handicap coming in with room to spare (Corners = 11-4).
- Man City -3 Corner Handicap bets have paid out in 3 of their last 4 Home games (paying out more often than the Home Win)
In our Friday email I flagged up two of our other top-rated Corner-winning sides, Tottenham and Liverpool, but they didn’t make the cut for our weekend Picks on the grounds of price (both short odds-on for the Most Corners) and Handicap size...
As it turned out both Spurs and Liverpool beat the bookies’ Corner Handicaps, with Tottenham smashing what would normally be a big-looking -4 Handicap, 15-1, in their 1-0 win over Watford. While Liverpool beat the -3 Corner Handicap with a 7-2 corners score in their 2-2 with Sunderland.
After those weekend games, the top three sides on our Most Corners table on the League Stats pages on our site are:
- 1. Tottenham – Most Corners HOME = 85%
- 2. Man City – Most Corners HOME = 77%
- 3. Liverpool – Most Corners HOME = 75%
There was no joy from our other two Picks though with value selection Aston Villa failing to win the Most Cards at odds of 2/1+ (3.00+). Yellow Cards = Villa 0 Norwich 2.
While West Ham lost for just the second time in 14 games, going down 1-0 at Southampton. We needed a draw or win for the Double Chance bet selection, but West Ham couldn’t break through despite playing against 10 men for the final 35 minutes of the match.
What the stats say after Week 25...
With the weekend’s numbers to hand, here are some of the top stats in the Premier League right now. Trends that can lead us to betting opportunities in the weeks ahead:
- Aston Villa 2 Norwich 0 – Under 2.5 Goals bets have now paid out in 10 of Villa’s last 11 games. Norwich have lost 5 games in a row
- Man City 1 Leicester 3 – Man City’s Sergio Aguero has scored 7 goals in 5 games in all comps. Over 2.5 Goals bets have paid out in 10 of Man City’s last 11 Premier League Home games
- Liverpool 2 Sunderland 2 – Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino has scored 5 goals in his last 5 Premier League games
- Southampton 1 West Ham 0 – Southampton have kept 5 Clean Sheets in a row since goalkeeper Fraser Forster returned from injury
- Stoke 0 Everton 3 – Stoke have lost 3-0 in each of their last Premier League games
Those are just a handful of the strongest stats on show in the Premier League right now. Remember you can access Team Stats for all 20 teams and our League Stats tables ranking teams across a variety of Goals, Corners and Cards markets – on our website.
Coming up this week...
I’ll be back on Friday with stats and analysis for the weekend games & betting markets, including my take on the best value prices in the form of our Weekend Picks.
We have Arsenal v Leicester and Man City v Tottenham on Sky Sports’ Super Sunday – the top four teams in action there and it should be a cracker...
Best wishes,

Oliver Upstone
