- FA Cup Final – Arsenal v Chelsea...
And the winner is...
A little bit of history repeating today...
We’re looking at the FA Cup Final this weekend, but first of all we have a trophy to hand out...
I’m pleased to announce that the winner of our 2016/17 Premier League Predictor Mini League is... CHRISSIE13... again!
They say winning back-to-back titles is hardest thing to do. Well done, Chrissie. An immense predictive performance, all season long (and two seasons running)...
Victory was sealed with an impressive 7 out of 10 Match Result predictions on the final day last Sunday, including a Correct Score on Liverpool to beat Middlesbrough, 3-0.
- Congratulations, CHRISSIE13. Your £100 prize is waiting for you here. Please email in to: info@oxonpress.co.uk to claim your winnings
The top of our Predictor league finished like this:

We’ll be playing again next season – for sure. And watch this space, as we have some exciting developments in the pipeline.
On to this weekend’s Wembley football now...
THE BIG GAME – The FA Cup Final...
There are three big games taking place at Wembley this Bank Holiday weekend...
Saturday, 5.30pm – BBC One:
- FA Cup Final – Chelsea v Arsenal
Sunday, 3pm – Sky Sports:
- League Two Playoff Final – Blackpool v Exeter
Monday, 3pm – Sky Sports:
- Championship Playoff Final – Huddersfield v Reading
All those games are massive in their own right, but the FA Cup Final is the one we’re looking at today...
Arsenal v Chelsea
Saturday, 4.30pm – Wembley Stadium
Live on BBC One and BT Sport
Match odds:
Arsenal 7/2 (4.50) Draw 14/5 (3.80) Chelsea 4/5 (1.80)
To Lift the Trophy:
Arsenal 2/1 (3.00) Chelsea 2/5 (1.40)
Let’s take a look at the FA Cup Final history books...
Cup Final trends – last 20 years
Stats & betting markets apply to Normal Time only
- Under 2.5 Goals bets have paid out in 14 of the last 20 finals (70%)
- The 1-0 Correct Score has paid out 6 times (30%)
And in the last decade...
- Arsenal’s 4-0 victory over Aston Villa in 2014/15 was the only time in the last 12 years that an FA Cup final has been settled by more than a 1-goal Winning Margin
The FA Cup history books tell us to expect a narrow score-line.
And the Premier League record between these sides says that league champions Chelsea are rightful favourites – Arsenal have failed to beat them in 16 of their last 20 meetings in all comps.
This season’s stats...
Standout stats from this season in the Premier League include:
- Chelsea are ranked 2nd for Over 2.5 Goals payouts, with Arsenal 3rd
- Arsenal ranked 2nd for Both Teams to Score bets
- Arsenal ranked 2nd for Over 10.5 Corners bets
- Chelsea ranked 4th for Most Corners bets (61%), Arsenal ranked 7th (55%)
The bookies make Both Teams to Score – Yes the favourite at 4/6 (1.67), and Over 2.5 Goals is the Under/ Over favourite, at 8/11 (1.73).
The Total Corners market is priced up 50/50 with Over 10.5 Corners a 5/6 (1.83) chance, and the Under option the same.
Here’s an interesting one though...
Chelsea are the 8/11 (1.73) favourite for the Most Corners, but a key stat for me is that they’ve only actually landed that bet in 2 of their last 10 meetings with Arsenal...
Bets on Arsenal +1 Corner Handicap have paid out 8 times out of 10, and it’s not often you get a chance to back the Gunners with a ‘head start’ on the corners...
- With that in mind, Arsenal +1 Corner Handicap at Evens (2.00) with Paddy Power is the standout stats option for me
P.S
£50 free matched bet on the Cup Final...
