STATS REVIEW

12 out of 13 for Rotherham...

We broke even for the Christmas period, with three winners from our six picks between Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

Rotherham and Blackburn gave a Both Teams to Score payout for us yesterday; odds of 3/4 (1.75) were modest but on recent form the stats made that outcome more likely than the price suggested.

The game finished 1-1 and Both Teams to Score has now paid out in 12 of Rotherham’s last 13 games in League One. That’s an eye-catching trend and one we should keep on our radar.

Seven of Blackburn’s last 9 games have now seen goals at both ends.

Latest stats & streaks...

The data on our website highlights many prolific and profitable trends in the stats markets.

Here are some of the teams flying high on our charts, after the festive games...

Goals:

  • Leicester beat Huddersfield 3-0 on New Year’s Day – their 7th successive Premier League game to go Over 2.5 Goals since 9th December
  • Birmingham had 3 out of 3 Under 2.5 Goals games over Christmas – they may be bottom of the Championship and facing relegation, but the Blues are 1st place for that bet with an 80% overall record. Under 2.5 Goals bets have paid out in 13 of Birmingham’s last 14 games
  • Bradford won 2-1 at Fleetwood on Monday – their 6th straight game to pay out on Both Teams to Score, making it 8 from their last 9 in League One

Corners:

  • Hull are ranked joint-1st in the Championship for Under 10.5 Corners with a 77% record for the season – 12 of their last 14 games have had 10 or less corners
  • Stoke are the top team in the Premier League for Over 10.5 Corners bets, including 9 out of 11 payouts at Home (82%). There were 15 corners in their 0-1 Home defeat by Newcastle on New Year’s Day
  • Sheffield United have only won 2 of their last 10 games, but Blades are the No.1 team in the Championship for Most Corners bets (81% record). They won the corner count 13-2 in their 1-1 draw at Derby on Monday in what was their 13th consecutive Most Corners win

Cards:

  • Brighton go into the New Year as the top-ranked side in the Premier League for Under 3.5 Cards bets with an 82% strike-rate – 11 of their last 12 games have had 3 or less Yellow Cards
  • Crystal Palace are joint-2nd in the Premier League for the most amount of Yellow Cards (44) – and joint-1st for the most amount of Over 3.5 Cards payouts (62%). There were 9 Yellow Cards in their 0-0 draw with Man City on New Year’s Eve, and 6 of Palace’s last 7 games have gone Over 3.5 Cards
  • Lincoln have received the Most Cards in each of their last 5 Away games, including at Luton on Monday. The Imps are 2nd in League Two for that bet and have got the Most Cards in more Away games than any other team, with a 77% record (10 out of 13 Away games)

MIDWEEK PICKS & ANALYSIS

There are 7 more ‘New Year’ fixtures across the Premier League and Championship tonight, and one game in particular catches the eye for me in the Corners markets...

Southampton standout tonight...

Southampton v Crystal Palace

Premier League, Tue 7.45pm

  • Southampton have won the Most Corners in 8 of their 11 Home games (73%)

Southampton are a team to look out for in the Most Corners and Corner Handicap markets, especially when playing at Home and even more so against a team in the bottom half of the table...

Saints have landed the Most Corners in 4 out of 5 games v bottom half teams at St Mary’s. And in each of those 4 games they’ve been dominant enough to also land the -1, -2, -3 and -4 Corner Handicap.

That includes a 9-1 corners win their 1-1 draw with Huddersfield last time out at Home.

Overall, Southampton are a strong Home ‘Most Corners’ winner with 7 payouts from 11 games this season – and they maintain that 73% record when it comes to the -1 and -2 Corner Handicap options, too.

Southampton v Palace - Corners Record

Palace have won the Most Corners in just 3 of 10 Away games all season (30%), and -1 Corner Handicap bets have paid out on opponents in 3 of Palace’s last 4 road trips – including a 6-3 corners defeat at Swansea and 6-4 at Leicester.

We can get Southampton with a -1 Corner Handicap (to win 2+ corners more than Palace) and the Home v Away stats make that a standout selection tonight.

Southampton -1 Corner Handicap is a best price Evens (2.00) with Paddy Power, Betfair Sportsbook, BetVictor, 17/20 (1.85) William Hill, 5/6 (1.83) Bet365.

  • Southampton -1.5 Corner Handicap (the same bet with a different name) available with Stan James, 888 Sport, Unibet, Marathonbet

Midweek Picks...

In summary, today’s pick is:

  • Southampton v Crystal Palace – Southampton -1 Corner Handicap @ Evens (2.00) with Paddy Power
