WEEKEND STATS REVIEW

Welcome to your Weekend Stats Review email.

Every Monday we take a look at the latest stats and results – catching up on the performance of our picks, and drawing attention to particularly eye-catching teams, players or trends.

Rovers 1st place for goals...

For the second week running we got a good price on Over 2.5 Goals in a game in League One. Bristol Rovers lost 1-2 v Shrewsbury, landing odds-against prices of 5/4 (2.25) or 6/5 (2.20).

Rovers are in 1st place on our League One chart for Over 2.5 Goals, including a Home strike-rate that now stands at 80% (12 out of 15 games). Saturday’s result makes it 5 of the last 6 at Home for Rovers going Over 2.5.

League One - Over 2.5 Goals

We’ve had five out of six winning picks in the last fortnight. A late goal went our way in that Bristol Rovers game. But an early goal put a spanner in the works at Anfield...

Liverpool went 1-0 up after three minutes v Tottenham, which wasn’t good news for my Liverpool -1 Corner Handicap selection. Spurs were behind for over 75 minutes and won the corner count 7-3. That’s the first time this season that Tottenham have won the Most Corners at a fellow Premier League Top 6 side.

Latest stats & streaks – Villa on best run since 1990...

The data on our site highlights many other prolific and profitable trends in the stats markets.

For example, after the weekend games:

  • Aston Villa 3 Burton 2 – Aston Villa are the form team in the Football League right now. This was their 6th successive match win in the Championship – and the first time Villa have won 6 league games in a row since 1990, when the late Graham Taylor was in charge. Next up – the midlands derby v Birmingham City
  • Fulham 2 Nottingham Forest 0 – Fulham are also flying high on the Form table. The Cottagers have now won 5 in a row in the Championship. Four of those 5 wins have been by more than one goal, paying out on the -1 Match Handicap
  • Man Utd 2 Huddersfield 0 – at the other end of the Form spectrum, Huddersfield have now lost 5 in a row in the Premier League and 4 of those defeats have been To Nil. In fact, Huddersfield have failed to score in 5 of their last 6 games
  • Oldham 2 Bradford 1 – Bradford are in a spin, losing 5 straight games in League One. Four of those five defeats have gone Over 2.5 Goals, and Bradford are 2nd in the division for that Total Goals bet
  • Arsenal 5 Everton 1 – this was an 8th successive Both Teams to Score game for Arsenal, and 7 of them have gone Over 2.5 Goals, too. Arsenal are the No.1 team in the Premier League for ‘early goals,’ with 11 out of 13 games at the Emirates (85%) seeing the First Goal scored in the 27th Minute or Before. It took them just 6 minutes to find the net on Saturday

This week’s football – derby days on BT and Sky...

Watford v Chelsea completes the weekend Premier League fixture list this evening, live on Sky Sports at 8pm.

The Premier League continues apace at the weekend with a Saturday lunchtime kick-off for the North London derby between Tottenham and Arsenal on BT Sport.

It’s also derby day in the Championship on Sunday lunchtime with Aston Villa v Birmingham on Sky.

And there’s midweek football on TV too with FA Cup replays including Swansea v Notts County on Tuesday night (BBC One) and Tottenham v Newport at Wembley on Wednesday (BT Sport).

I’ll be back on Wednesday with a Spotlight email, taking a look at the Champions League stats ahead of the start of the Knockout stages next week.

Then on Friday we’ll be looking at the weekend domestic games with our latest Picks & Analysis.

Enjoy the football...

Best wishes,

Oliver Upstone
