Welcome to your Weekend Picks & Analysis email.
Every week I research the stats & fixtures, across the leagues. With the aim of identifying games with top-rated stats match-ups, bet opportunities and the best prices available with the bookies.
Cups and trophies…
The Champions League quarter final draw was made this morning. As ever, there are some mouth-watering clashes in store. We’ll take a look at the Champions League and our recent record next week.
It’s also FA Cup quarter final weekend. Eight teams are battling it out for a trip to Wembley. That means we have a reduced Premier League fixture list, but there are four games taking place – and one catches my eye today (see below).
And remember, as ever, your members-only Across the Leagues website is up-to-date with all the latest stats to help you with your own weekend selections:
- League Stats tables, Team Stats and Head-to-Head comparisons for every game are available for you to log-in and view on your members-only website

Huddersfield angle looks good again…
Huddersfield v Crystal Palace
Premier League, Sat 3pm
- Huddersfield have won the Most Corners in 8 out of 10 Home games v non-Top 6 sides
When you follow the stats there are teams you find yourself going for again and again. ‘Huddersfield at Home’ has been on the list all season and they continue to look good (and be well priced) to win the Most Corners at the John Smith’s stadium…
They’ve landed that bet in a total of 8 out of 10 Home games v non-Top 6 sides.
Palace don’t have much in their Corners stats to put us off another Huddersfield pick this weekend. On the road, Palace have won the Most Corners 5 times in 15 games. They’ve been out-cornered in 4 of their last 5 Away games v non-Top 6 sides.
After their 12-0 corners win over 10-man Swansea last weekend, I was expecting to have to take Huddersfield with a ‘minus’ Corner Handicap here…
The fact that they are a decent price in the straight-up Most Corners market (sometimes called Corners Match Bet or even -0.5 Corner Handicap) makes them a stand out bet for us this weekend.
Most Corners – Huddersfield is a best price 19/20 (1.95) with William Hill, 17/20 (1.85) Marathonbet, 4/5 (1.80) Bet365, 888 Sport, Unibet. |
Goals at Elland Road…
Leeds Utd v Sheffield Wednesday
Championship, Sat 3pm
- Over 2.5 Goals has paid out in 7 of Leeds’ last 8 games
Things are rarely boring at Leeds, and their recent form is showing plenty of goals all over the park. Three of their last 6 games have finished as 2-2 draws…
Over 2.5 Goals has paid out in 4 of their last 5 at Elland Road, and Leeds are ranked 2nd on our overall Championship table for that bet this season.
Sheff Wed have been involved in plenty of high-scoring games, too. Four of their last 5 have gone Over 2.5 Goals, including 4-0 and 2-1 defeats in their last 2 Away games.
There were 3 goals in the reverse fixture earlier this season. The bookies make Under 2.5 Goals the more likely outcome this weekend, but the stats say this could be entertaining…
Over 2.5 Goals is a best price 21/20 (2.05) with William Hill, Evens (2.00) Bet365, Marathonbet, Betfair Sportsbook, Paddy Power, Sportingbet, 888 Sport, Unibet, BetVictor. |
I’ll be back on Monday with your Weekend Stat Review taking stock of the latest stats & trends – and looking ahead at the Champions League draw, and the next round of domestic fixtures.
Enjoy the football...
Best wishes,

Oliver Upstone
