- Coming up this week…
Welcome to your Weekend Stats Review email.
It wasn’t a pretty weekend for my Picks with just the one winner from three selections.
Huddersfield to win the Most Corners v Southampton was widely available at Evens+ (2.00), and the newly-promoted side continue to be strong corner-winners at Home…
A 5-4 corners result in that 0-0 draw makes it 2 out of 2 Most Corners payouts for Huddersfield at the John Smith’s Stadium this season – after a 91% Home record for that bet in the Championship last season.
The early form went out the window completely in Dundee though, with their 100% Most Corners and +1 Corner Handicap record made a mockery of by a huge 15-1 corners score in favour of Hibernian, in a 1-1 draw.
In the Championship, Burton’s run of Most Bookings games came to an end in their 1-1 draw v Sheffield Wednesday, with the Away team receiving the only 2 Yellow Cards (20 Booking Points) in the game.
The stats will continue to build as the season develops – it’s still very early days of course. Here are some of the trends on show after the weekend results…
Three Tottenham trends continue…
We had a -1 Corner Handicap winner on Tottenham on the opening weekend of the season and they are now up to 3 out of 3 for that bet…
Spurs won the corner count 10-7 in their 1-1 draw with Burnley. Man City and Man Utd join them as the three Premier League teams with 100% Most Corners records.
Backing Tottenham in the Corners markets is certainly proving more fruitful than backing Harry Kane to score, or Tottenham to win at Wembley…
Harry’s August blues and Spurs’ Wembley curse both continued on Sunday, with Burnley’s new striker Chris Wood scoring a late equaliser on his Premier League debut, after Dele Alli had put Tottenham 1-0 up.
We looked at Harry and his team in last week’s Spotlight feature (23rd Aug) – you can catch up here.
Elsewhere in the updated stats on our website…
- Premier League – West Ham have a 100% Over 2.5 Goals record after a 3-0 defeat at newly-promoted Newcastle. The Hammers have conceded 3+ goals in all 3 games, losing all 3
- Championship – Sunderland are the only team in the division with a 100% Most Bookings record, having picked up 3 Yellow Cards to Barnsley’s 1 in a 3-0 Away defeat (30 Bookings Points to 10 pts)
- League One – Peterborough are top of the table with 12 pts from 4 games, and also have a 100% record for Over 2.5 Goals. Saturday’s 4-1 win at hapless Northampton (who are played 4 lost 4) meaning The Posh have scored 4 goals in both Away games so far
- League Two – Swindon lost 0-3 at Home to Crawley; a total of 13 corners in the game kept up their 100% record for Over 10.5 Corners payouts this season
- Scottish Premiership – Hibernian’s 1-1 draw at Dundee makes it 4 out of 4 Both Teams to Score games for them, the only 100% record for that bet in the division
That’s just a handful of the stats & trends showing on our site. Check out all the form across all five of the domestic leagues that we cover – for 30+ markets and 100+ teams – by logging-in at: www.AcrossTheLeagues.co.uk.
Coming up this week…
There’s an International break this coming weekend, but we still have a full programme of League One and League Two games to look at. I’ll get the ball rolling with a stats focus on Thursday with this week’s Spotlight feature. Followed by your full Weekend Picks & Analysis email on Friday afternoon.
See you on Thursday,
Best wishes,
