Spotlight - Posh profits at both ends...
Thursday 31st August 2017
In your Across the Leagues email today:
- Spotlight – Posh profits at both ends…
- Leagues One & Two in our sights tomorrow…
Welcome to your midweek Spotlight email.
Today we have an example of how using the Goals stats can lead you to a more profitable ‘alternative’ in the Match Result markets…
Posh profits at both ends…
Peterborough have started the season with a 100% winning record, with 4 out of 4 victories making them the early frontrunners in League One.
The Posh have scored more goals than any other team in the division so far, with 12 Goals For.
However, they’ve also failed to keep a Clean Sheet, conceding in all 4 games…
That stat means Peterborough also have a 100% record for Over 2.5 Goals and Both Teams to Score bets.
Linking those Goals markets up to the Match Result options, the Posh have paid out all 4 times for ‘Win & Over 2.5 Goals’ and ‘Win & Both Teams to Score’…
Those two markets will always be available at greater odds than the standard Match Result bet.
That’s because they are essentially a double on the team to win (Match Result), and the number of goals (Total Goals Under/ Over 2.5 Goals) or nature of the goals (Both Teams to Score Yes or No).
Here are the standard Match Result prices for Peterborough’s 4 wins so far:
6/4 (2.50) Away v Northampton – won 4-1
13/10 (2.30) Home v Rotherham – won 2-1
14/5 (3.80) Away v Bristol Rovers – won 4-1
21/20 (2.05) Home v Plymouth – won 2-1
Take last weekend’s game at Northampton. Peterborough were 6/4 (2.50) to win. But the ‘Win & Over 2.5 Goals’ option was 3/1 (4.00). And ‘Win & Both Teams to Score’ was 7/2 (4.50).
Latching onto Match Result trends like that can make a significant difference to your overall profits. And those ‘alternative’ Win & Total Goals and Win & Both Teams to Score markets are available with pretty much all of the major bookies, every week.
This weekend, Peterborough are Away at Doncaster Rovers. We’ll take a look at the markets and stats for that particular game tomorrow. That’s just one game on our radar…
I’ll be back Friday afternoon with your Weekend Picks & Analysis email. With the International break taking out some of the top divisions, we’ll be focusing on the League One and League Two fixtures.
See you tomorrow,
Best wishes,

Oliver Upstone
