FA Cup – Stats for Saturday’s Semi Final…
Manchester City are still on for the quadruple. The EFL Cup is already in the bag. And City are the bookies’ favourites for the Premier League, Champions League and the FA Cup.
Pep Guardiola’s side head to Wembley this weekend to take on Brighton in the first of two Semi Finals (BBC One, 5.30pm). Wolves play Watford on Sunday.
Man City v Brighton
City are serial winners. But their strongest stats are to be found in the Most Corners department:
- Man City have won the Most Corners in 31 of their last 32 games in all comps
In comparison, City have won ‘just’ (!) 26 of those last 32 games.
The Citizens are the clear No.1 Premier League team for this stat, winning the Most Corners in 90% of games. And in total, racking up a good 30+ more flag kicks than any other team this season.
In their last meeting with Brighton, the corners tally was 10-3 to Man City (won the game 2-0).
City have hit double figures in their three most recent games, too. With some thumping corners scores:
17-4 v Cardiff (won 2-0)
11-0 at Fulham (won 2-0)
13-1 at Swansea (won 3-2)
Alongside with that Swansea result, Man City’s other FA Cup corners scores in this campaign have been: 8-2, 12-3 and 8-1.
In all of those quoted examples, Man City -5 Corner Handicap bets would’ve paid out as a winner. That option is available for Saturday’s game at 4/5 (1.80) with William Hill, and similar prices with the likes of 888 Sport, Unibet, Marathonbet, NetBet and 10Bet.
That -5 Corner Handicap pays out if City win 6+ more corners than Brighton.
If you’re looking for a more fanciful way to capitalise on that dominant corner-winning form, then you might want to consider backing Man City in the Team Corners markets…
The numbers above suggest City getting 10+ corners on their own is far from out of the question.
The bookies mentioned above offer that team market. As do the spread betting firms such as Sporting Index, where you can Buy (bet high) on Man City’s Corners at 8.25, or on their Supremacy (eg. the Handicap v Brighton) at 6.0 corners.
The Multi Corners market is total 1st Half corners x 2nd Half corners. The Buy quote there is 27.5. If, for example, there were 6 corners in each half of the game, the Multi Corners result would be 6 x 6 = 36. In that example the Buy would win you the difference (36 – 27.5 = 8.5) multiplied by your stake.
- Note: Spread betting means the more ‘right’ you are, the more you stand to win. But that works the other way, too – the more ‘wrong’ you are, the more you stand to lose
