The return of the Premier League…

The new Premier League season kicks off tonight with Liverpool v Norwich (Sky Sports, 8pm)…

This evening’s curtain-raiser at Anfield pits last season’s Premier League runners-up against the newly-promoted Championship champions.

These two clubs haven’t met since January 2016, but that game was a memorable one with Liverpool winning 5-4 at Carrow Road in the dying seconds – and Jurgen Klopp losing his glasses in the celebrations.

Premier League encounters between Liverpool and Norwich have tended to feature stacks of goals in recent years. As well as that 5-4, there have been 5-1, 5-0, 2-3 and 2-5 wins for the Reds.

The bookies make it around 2/1 (3.00) for another Over 4.5 Goals result this evening – so they’re not taking any chances there.

Predictor game 2019/20…

The intention was to launch our new 2019/20 Premier League Predictor game today. But due to circumstances beyond our immediate control (technical ‘gremlins’ with the Predictor website system, shall we say), we’ve had to put it on hold for week one.

Not to worry, though. We’ll be starting from Round 2 next weekend instead, with cash prizes to be won throughout the season.

The Predictor has proved popular in the last couple of years, and this season in your ATL Extra emails we’ll be giving more attention than ever before to our weekly Premier League Predictions section.

Here are our own predictions for this weekend, along with the boys at Sky Sports and the BBC…
