At the weekend our Championship picks gave one winner from two. Not for the first time this season, we were one goal off clicking. Aston Villa 0 West Brom 2 bucked the Over 2.5 Goals stats. But Ipswich 1 Stoke 1 stayed on trend for Under 2.5 Goals. That bet has now paid out in each of Stoke’s last 5 games.

The Champions League Last 16 stage is spread out over several weeks. The 1st Leg ties continue today & tomorrow, kicking off with Liverpool v Bayern Munich and Lyon v Barcelona this evening. There’s also a handful of games in the Football League, with one match-up catching the eye in League One (see below).

It’s no surprise to see Barcelona as favourites for the Away Win, although their form hasn’t been at their usual stratospheric heights recently. Barca have won just one of their last 4 Away games, and they’ve drawn 3 of their last 4 in all competitions.
If you were filling in a Pool Coupon then there’s a weight of evidence for ticking the ‘score draw’ box here…
Lyon were unbeaten in the Group stage, but 5 of their 6 games ended as score draws – including the 2-2 score-line in all 3 Home games (most recently a 2-2 with Man City).
Both Teams to Score has paid out in 6 out of 6 Lyon games in the Champions League this season, and that’s the standout stat here. Barcelona gave 3 out of 3 Away payouts for that bet in the Group games, with 4-2 and 2-1 victories coming either side of a 1-1 draw at Inter Milan.
Both sides have goal-scoring threats on the team-sheet, with Moussa Dembele the danger man for Lyon. And of course, the likes of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez up front for Barcelona, as well as Ousmane Dembele (no relation). Messi is the odds-on favourite, which again is no surprise considering he’s got 90 Champions League goals in 90 starts (!).
