Premier League Predictions - and EFL Cup Final stats...

Friday 22nd February 2019

In your Across the Leagues EXTRA email today:

  • Stats for the Weekend…
  • EFL Cup Final – Chelsea v Man City…
  • Premier League Predictions…

There’s a big weekend of football ahead including Man Utd v Liverpool at Old Trafford in the Premier League, and another big clash in the EFL Cup Final…

Our Stats for the Weekend come for the game at Wembley…

Chelsea v Man City

EFL Cup Final
Wembley Stadium
Sunday, 4.30pm – Sky Sports

Match odds: Chelsea 19/4 (5.75), Draw 7/2 (4.50), Man City 4/7 (1.57)

To Lift the Trophy: Chelsea 11/4 (3.75), Man City 2/7 (1.29)

The ‘Cup tie’ element seems to have pushed the prices out to bigger than what we would have seen had this been a Premier League game…

Man City thrashed Chelsea 6-0 in the league just a couple of weeks ago, and on overall form the reigning league champions and EFL Cup holders are clear favourites here.

Chelsea have won just 4 of their last 11 games in all comps when playing away from Stamford Bridge (at Malmo, Crystal Palace, Wolves and Brighton).

City have won 13 of their last 14 games in all comps, scoring 3 or more goals in 10 of those 14 games. What’s more, 10 of those 13 wins have been by more than one goal, landing the -1 Match Handicap. Pep Guardiola’s side won this Final 3-0 last season (v Arsenal).

  • Man City are 4/7 (1.57) in general to win in 90 Minutes. Man City -1 Match Handicap is a best price 7/4 (2.75) with Betfair Sportsbook

Away from the Match Result markets, the Goals stats clearly say ‘high goals’…

Over 2.5 Goals bets have paid out in 11 of 13 Man City games this calendar year, and they’re the No.2 side in the Premier League for that bet for the season overall (74% strike-rate).

Over 2.5 Goals has paid out in 8 of Chelsea’s 10 games in all comps, and they have the 2nd-highest Away record in the Premier League for that bet with 10 of 13 Away games featuring 3+ Total Goals (77%).

Four of the last 6 EFL Cup Finals have gone Over 2.5 Goals, including 3-0 and 3-2 final scores in Normal Time in the last two years.

Again, this price looks a tad bigger than if this was a Premier League game…

  • Over 2.5 Goals is a best price 4/5 (1.80) with Betway and around 3/4 (1.75) elsewhere
