Final day stats for the Premier League...

It’s been a drawn-out season, with a 100-day gap in the middle, but the Premier League finally reaches round 38 this weekend…

All 10 games take place on Sunday, kicking off at 4pm, live across the various TV channels.

With European qualification places and relegation issues still to be decided, it’s sure to be an entertaining/ nerve-wracking afternoon.

I’ve been taking my annual look at the Premier League final-day goals stats. Here are the key figures from the last five years:

2018/19 final day:
Over 2.5 Goals = 6 out of 10 games
Over 3.5 Goals = 6
Notable score-lines: 1-4, 5-3, 0-4, 2-2

2017/18 final day:
Over 2.5 Goals = 6
Over 3.5 Goals = 3
Notable score-lines: 4-0, 5-4

2016/17 final day:
Over 2.5 Goals = 7
Over 3.5 Goals = 4
Notable score-lines: 5-1, 1-7, 0-5

2015/16 final day:
Over 2.5 Goals = 7
Over 3.5 Goals = 5
Notable score-lines: 4-0, 5-1, 4-1

2014/15 final day:
Over 2.5 Goals = 4
Over 3.5 Goals = 4
Notable score-lines: 4-1, 5-1, 6-1

Those last-five seasons stats show that, on average, the final day in the Premier League has been producing:

  • 6 out of 10 games Over 2.5 Goals
  • 4 out of 10 games Over 3.5 Goals
  • At least one game with 5+ Total Goals

Looking at our Predictions for this weekend (see grid below), my colleague Shaun & I have six matching games ticking the box for Over 2.5 Goals

Over 2.5 Goals picks:

Arsenal v Watford
Chelsea v Wolves
Crystal Palace v Tottenham
Man City v Norwich
Newcastle v Liverpool
West Ham v Aston Villa

That 6-fold combo on Over 2.5 Goals pays 16/1 with William Hill, BetVictor, 15/1 in general.
