Top Trends - and Stats Picks for tonight...

In your Across the Leagues email today:

  • Playing the stats at 10/1...
  • Top Trends from Across the Leagues
  • Stats Picks for tonight – kick off 7pm...

How we play the stats...

On the average weekend throughout the season, 81 games take place across our featured leagues in England, Scotland and Europe.

Add in midweek league fixtures and Champions League weeks, and that figure rises to over 100 games in a seven-day period.

The wealth of stats & data available on your members-only Across the Leagues website covers a variety of betting markets.

With our League Stats, Team Stats, Totals, Top 10 Tables and Head-2-Head tools including Match Results, Scorers, Goals, Corners and Cards form.

That all adds up to literally hundreds – if not thousands – of potential betting opportunities every week. Especially with bookies like William Hill offering 200+ markets per game.

From all those numbers, all those stats and all those markets, I go through the fixture lists and match-ups to highlight the top-rated games in your weekly Stats Picks emails, offering up a snapshot of the highest performing teams on our website.

And from those 80+ games and hundreds of stats and markets every week, we look to turn the stats into winners with our Stats Picks recommendations.

As well as standard match singles we also look to combine Form (Match Results) and Goals (Over/ Under, Both Teams to Score) picks in doubles, trebles and accumulators. Markets like those are available with all bookies, and are easily combinable in multiples.

These accas won’t win every week. But with some big rolled-over odds up for grabs, the occasional full house will serve us well over the course of the season.

For example, last weekend we got 5 out of 6 in our Goals Acca. Paderborn 2 Dusseldorf 0 in the German Bundesliga was the missing link for Over 2.5 Goals. That score-line meant we ended up just one goal shy of a 10/1 winner on the 6-fold acca:

Man City v Aston Villa – Over 2.5 Goals – Result: 3-0
Liverpool v Tottenham – Over 2.5 Goals – Result: 2-1
West Brom v Charlton – Both Teams to Score – Result: 2-2
Oxford Utd v Rochdale – Over 2.5 Goals – Result: 3-0
Atletico Madrid v Atheltic Bilbao – Under 2.5 Goals – Result: 2-0
Paderborn v Dusseldorf – Over 2.5 Goals – Result: 2-0

As I say, these kind of 10/1 combinations won’t win every week. But at those odds – and with a strong formbook of stats to guide us – it only takes a few winning weekends to put us in front in the long run.

That’s how we’re playing the stats in the betting markets.

Now let’s take a look at some of the current top performers on our site...

Top Trends...

After the weekend results in the UK & Europe, here are some of the standout stats bets that we’re monitoring right now:

FORM

  • Barcelona are top of the tree in Spain. A 5-1 win v Valladolid last night puts Barca top of our overall Form table across all the leagues we cover, with 5 wins in a row in La Liga
  • Oxford Utd are also up there for Match Results form, with 5 wins in their last 6 games in League One – including 3-0 v Rochdale on Saturday
  • At the other end of the form spectrum, Walsall in League Two have lost 5 in a row. Weekend result: Walsall 1 Mansfield 2

GOALS

  • Liverpool 2 Tottenham 1 means Liverpool stay 100% at home for Over 2.5 Goals in the Premier League, with Tottenham 100% away (5 games out of 5)
  • West Brom are top of the Championship, but are still yet to keep a Clean Sheet at home in the league, with all 7 games at the Hawthorns paying out on Both Teams to Score. Weekend result: West Brom 2 Charlton 2
  • In Italy, Atalanta are the form side for Over 2.5 Goals. A huge 7-1 win v Udinese keeps Atalanta 100% at home for that bet (4 games out of 4), and 89% overall with 3+ Total Goals in 8 of their 9 Serie A outings
  • At the ‘low’ end of the goals lists, Athletic Bilbao are a perfect 10 games out of 10 for Under 2.5 Goals, with a 2-0 defeat at Atletico Madrid keeping up their 100% record in that market. Can they keep the trend going? Bilbao are at home v Espanyol this evening (see below)

CORNERS

  • Kilmarnock v St Mirren was our weekend Stats Pick for Under 10 Corners. There were just 7 corners in the game, which ended 1-0 to the home side. Killie and their artificial pitch were No.1 for ‘low corners’ results in the Scottish Premiership last season. They’ve started this campaign with a 100% record, with all 6 home games going Under 10.5 and Under 9.5 Corners
  • In England, QPR are the top dogs for Under 10.5 Corners. A total of 9 corners in their 1-3 loss to Brentford on Monday night takes QPR to 13 out of 14 Championship games for that bet (93%), include a 100% home record of 8 out of 8

CARDS & BOOKINGS

  • In La Liga, Espanyol are joint-1st on our website for Most Cards bets. Espanyol have got the Most Cards and Booking Points in each of their last 7 games (see below)
  • Hamilton are the No.1 team for Under 3.5 Cards bets. That’s paid out in 9 of their 10 games in the Scottish Premiership. A 3-2 defeat at St Johnstone on Saturday saw just one Yellow Card in the game (10 Booking Points)
  • Norwich v Man Utd was our weekend Stats Pick for Over 3.5 Cards (or 40+ Booking Points). There were 4 Yellows in the game (40 pts), taking United up to 80% for the season for Over 3.5 Cards payouts, including 5 out of 5 away. The referee on Sunday was Stuart Atwell and he has now come good on that bet in 4 of his 5 Premier League games

STATS PICKS

There are a few midweek matches taking place in Scotland, Spain and Italy this evening. The Head-2-Heads for every game are available on our website. This one stands out in particular...

Spain – La Liga

Athletic Bilbao v Espanyol – Under 2.5 Goals

As stated above, Bilbao are 100% for Under 2.5 Goals. Espanyol are 7 from 10 for this bet, too. Bilbao home games are averaging 1.6 Total Goals – and so are Espanyol’s away trips. Also, the last 4 league meetings between these sides have ended 1-1, 1-0, 0-1 and 1-1.

  • Under 2.5 Goals @ 4/9 (1.44) Bet365 and in general

Atheltic Bilbao v Espanyol – Most Booking Points – Espanyol

The Top Trends also flag up Espanyol as one to follow for Most Cards and Most Booking Points bets. They’re on a 7-game streak for that bet. Bilbao haven’t got the most cards in any of their 5 home games so far, and are just 2 from 10 overall for that trend. What’s more, Espanyol have paid out in this market on each of their last 5 league visits to Bilbao.

  • Most Booking Points – Espanyol @ 4/5 (1.80) Skybet, 3/4 (1.75) William Hill

Also available: Espanyol -0.5 Card Handicap @ 3/4 (1.75) Bet365, 5/7 (1.71) NetBet, 10Bet. Most Cards – Espanyol @ 7/10 (1.70) Betway, 888 Sport, Unibet. Cards & Booking Points bets explained here.
