We’ve seen some massive score-lines recently…

On Saturday, Liverpool beat Bournemouth, 9-0.

And on Sunday, Celtic mimicked that score, winning 9-0 at Dundee Utd.

Those thumping results follow on from PSG’s recent 7-1 victory at Lille. And Bayern Munich’s 7-0 away win at Bochum…

In the Correct Score markets, those score-lines paid out at odds in the region of 50/1 to 100/1. Making the ‘big Correct Score’ a decent betting angle to pursue when faced with a big potential mismatch on the fixture list.

The German Cup produces plenty of these match-ups, with the lower-league sides always placed at home in the early rounds – and the top-flight teams coming to visit…

Tonight’s game in the ‘DFB-Pokal’ pits third-tier side Viktoria Köln against 10-time reigning Bundesliga 1 champions, Bayern Munich…

As reported the other week, league leaders Bayern have been banging in the goals on the road. Look at these away (or neutral venue) results so far this season:

Last time out on the road in the league, I said that we should fear for Bochum – and it ended in a 0-7 defeat for the hosts. This evening, even if Munich rest some of their star names, they’ll still likely possess enough power and quality to push past this third-tier outfit in Cologne.

Let’s take a look at the markets:

Bayern to win the game in 90 minutes is 1/50 (1.02) at best, and minimum odds of 1/100 (1.01) in general. Those short-as-they-come Match Result prices offer profits on a £10 stake of 20 pence and 10 pence, respectively.

Naturally, I want to find us better returns than that…

In the Match Handicap betting, Bayern -4 Handicap pays around 8/11 (1.73). Covering any score-line in which the visitors win by five or more goals in normal time, eg. 5-0, 6-0, 6-1, etc.

To get into odds-against prices, Bayern -5 Handicap is available at about 6/4 (2.5). Paying out on a victory with a margin of six or more goals, eg. 6-0, 7-0, 7-1, etc.

And for the most fun and the biggest prices, you want to be swimming in the Correct Score waters…

With all due respect to the hosts, a big Bayern Munich score-line does look a distinct possibility this evening.

Regarding the Correct Score approach, it’s a bit of a game of take-your-pick here. My preference is to go aggressive…

After a frustrating 1-1 home draw in the league at the weekend, Munich might want to make a statement tonight. I like the -5 Match Handicap as the ‘anchor’ bet here. And for bigger odds, both the 9-0 and 10-0 Correct Scores.
