In Across the Leagues today:
Before we head into the weekend betting, I just need to shake off some near-miss blues from recent picks. No violins – but…
A couple of Sunday’s ago we nearly smashed a 150/1 Bet Builder for Rangers v Celtic. Hitting four legs out of five. The one missing piece that day was a yellow card for Celtic defender Liam Scales…
The two teams met again a week later in the cup. And guess who got the first card in that Old Firm re-match? Yep, Liam Scales. So close, so far away…
Midweek, Vinicius Junior joined this season’s growing list of daft penalty misses. Leave your ego aside and concentrate on putting the ball in the net! A penalty-gone-embarrassingly-wrong also cost us with Brentford in the FA Cup last weekend.
And while I’m on a rant, Bernardo Silva, who was a midweek card selection for us in the Champions League, was subbed-off in the second half for Man City at Real Madrid. The player who replaced him, Rayan Ait-Nouri, only needed a few minutes on the pitch to collect a booking instead. The only silver (Silva) lining there being if you placed your bet with someone like Paddy Power, with their ‘Super Sub’ offer turning situations like that into a payout.
Anyway. As my wonderful old great Aunty Pat always says, “Keep yew a troshin”…
On with the show…
Premier League, Sun 4.30pm – Sky Sports
Standout stats:
Putting that batch into the blender, the Bet Builder stew looks like this:
Liverpool to Win
Liverpool Most Corners (Corners Match Bet)
Over 2.5 Goals
Tottenham Most Cards
Cristian Romero to get a Card
Dominik Szoboszlai to get a Card
Hugo Ekitike to Score
With those lucky seven legs paying 68/1 with Paddy Power and 63/1 at Skybet (both have that bet-stays-alive ‘Super Sub’ rule I mentioned earlier). Bet365 also now have a ‘Sub On Play On’ offer, too.
And as a separate selection, Liverpool -3 Corner Handicap at around Even Money (2.0) is a standout stats pick.

Premier League, Sun 2pm – Sky Sports
This fixture gave us a 2-1 Correct Score payout on Villa just before Christmas. This time, the Predictor Grid is showing support for a Man Utd win with goals at both ends.
These teams occupy the top two spots in our Win & Both Teams to Score (Win & BTTS) chart for the Premier League this season. Villa have had five payouts away – United have had five at home.
And in the more speculative Half Time/ Full Time market, it’s worth knowing that Aston Villa and Man Utd are two of the top four teams in the division for HT/ FT comebacks in 2025/26, with three and two, respectively.
Under the current Michael Carrick regime, there’s certainly the sense that the Red Devils are more likely to recover if they go behind – and/ or come out on the right side of a goals-at-both-ends encounter.
What’s more, with Villa arriving here after a hard-fought away win in Europe on Thursday night, the hosts will surely be looking to step up their own late-season quest for the Champions League qualification places here.
My take here is to add Man Utd as one leg of a weekend Win & Both Teams to Score combo. Along with two of the top-rated Win & BTTS candidates from the Championship, with both having opponents that fit the bill on Saturday:
Coventry v Southampton, Sat 12.30pm, Sky Sports
Coventry to Win & Both Teams to Score
West Brom v Hull, Sat 3pm
Hull to Win & Both Teams to Score
The advice here is to split a stake across the four lines of a Trixie. That’s three doubles and a 66/1 treble. With the full house worth a very nice payout…
