Weekend Preview - Win & BTTS at 78/1...

In Across the Leagues today:

  • Keep an eye on Chiesa…
  • Andorra v England…
  • Win & Both Teams to Score selections…

Weekend Preview – Win & BTTS at 78/1…

Federico Chiesa didn’t score on Wednesday. But the 23-year-old is certainly one to keep an eye on this season, both in an Italy shirt, and at Juventus.

Italy lost 2-1 at home against Spain – a result that might need a little star by it, as the hosts played over half the match with 10 men.

Chiesa hit the post, and provided an assist for Italy’s goal. We don’t get a payout for that. But once again – I’m saying we’re in the right ballpark…

Andorra v England – Correct Score pick & mix…

Talking of being close with no cigar, we should take note of our ‘near miss’ (sorry, terrible betting phrase, I know), from last time England played Andorra. The Wembley formbook pointed to the 5-0 and 6-0 Correct Scores. It ended 4-0.

This Saturday, Gareth Southgate’s side travel to Andorra. Previous away-days there have resulted in 2-0 and 3-0 victories for England.

I wouldn’t go covering all those scores. But it’s hard to find value in a one-hit bet for this game. The England win is just 1/50 (1.02).

Some firms (Paddy Power, I’m looking at you) are the minimum odds of 1/100 (1.01). That’s a one-pound profit on a £100 stake. Yikes. No thanks.

Following on from those Correct Score options, England To Win To Nil is also pretty damn uninspiring as a betting proposition – also short odds-on, at 1/5 (1.2).

If you’re keen to get involved, then take your pick…

Correct Score – selected prices:

England 2-0 @ 13/2 (7.5) BetVictor
England 3-0 @ 4/1 (5.0) general
England 4-0 @ 9/2 (5.5) general
England 5-0 @ 13/2 (7.5) Paddy Power & Betfair Sportsbook
England 6-0 @ 10/1 (11.0) Paddy Power & Betfair Sportsbook

I’m not picking and playing with those this time. The World Cup 2022 Qualifiers continue next week. I’ll report in if anything catches my eye.

Newcastle specials!

Off the pitch, the big football news last night was the takeover at Newcastle United.

Never one to miss the chance for a bit of ‘banter,’ Paddy Power (them again) were straight on it…

We’ve spoken before about stupid Specials bets. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve got a sense of humour. But losing money isn’t funny. And I think that’s what’ll happen if you back these bets…

At 5pm yesterday, these wacky propositions were ‘trending’ in the Top 5 Bets on Oddschecker:

‘Ant or Dec’ to be Next Newcastle Manager @ 250/1

Steve Bruce to be Next Man Utd Manager @ 250/1

Okay, so maybe ex-United player Bruce should be given more respect in the market than TV scamps Ant & Dec. But either way, stay away from these Specials!

It’s not spam…

It’s come to my attention that some of the email replies that I send from my ‘Across the Leagues’ inbox are hitting your Junk or Spam folders.

If you’ve been expecting a reply from an email you’ve sent to me in recent times, it could be that my response never made it past your Spam box.

It’s that time of the season…

There are fixtures in League One and League Two this weekend. We’ve hit the magic 10-game mark in the English Football League. Meaning every team has got at least 10 games in the formbook, and the stats and trends on our website are filling out nicely.

The Head-2-Head home v away comparison tool now has a body of five current-season home/ away games to match-up with.

And with the form starting to show, it’s time to venture into one of our favourite and most exciting markets from last season: Win & Both Teams to Score (Win & BTTS).

Using the stats and form on the members-only Across the Leagues site (take a look for yourself), here are three teams that catch the eye for me in the Win & BTTS department this Saturday…

League One:

WYCOMBE v Gillingham @ 5/2+ (3.5+)

  • WYCOMBE are the No.1 team in League One for this bet, with 5 out of 6 match wins paying out on Win & Both Teams to Score

Sheffield Wednesday v BOLTON @ 5/1+ (6.0+)

  • BOLTON are 3rd in the League One chart for Win & BTTS, with 4 of their 5 victories seeing goals at both ends. In all competitions, each of Bolton’s last 6 wins have ticked this box. Sheff Wed have had 5 Both Teams to Score results in a row in all comps

League Two:

HARROGATE v Scunthorpe @ 5/2+ (3.5+)

  • HARROGATE are 2nd in League Two, and joint-1st for Win & Both Teams to Score bets. Four out of 5 victories have paid out on the win + goals at both ends. Harrogate are also ranked joint top of the division for Both Teams to Score

A Treble on those three Win & BTTS selections pays an attractive 75/1+. As with last season’s tactic in this market, I’m putting them up as a Trixie (three Doubles and a Treble).

TODAY’S PICKS

From the analysis above, here are my picks for today…

League One & League Two – Saturday 3pm

  • TRIXIE. Win & Both Teams to Score: WYCOMBE, BOLTON & HARROGATE. Best price on the Treble 78/1 @ William Hill, Bet365 (with 5% Acca Bonus), 76/1 BetVictor

I’ll see you next week with more stats, angles & analysis. Have a good weekend.

Enjoy the football…

Best wishes,
