How to Use Team Stats

How to Use Team Stats

The Team Stats Pages provide every team's match statistics, based purely on performance in their respective league this season.

Stats are divided into the following performance categories (use the links to jump straight to our help on each one, or just scroll down to read them all):

Current Form

To the right of the team name you'll see the team's current league record, their position in the table and their last 5 Home and Away results (Green = win, Orange = Drawn, Red = Lost).

Shots/Possession

The first stats you'll see at the top of the screen underneath the team name refer to the team's current form.

They are broken down into four sections, and are divided into Home and Away categories…

Total Shots
For = Shots at opponents Goal, Against = Shots by opponents.

Average Shots
This is the average number of Shots per match in the league this season.

Shots on Target
Shots that either resulted in a Goal or forced a save/ block by the defending team.

Possession
The Possession figure is an average percentage, indicating what how long each team retained possession of the ball.

These stats will give you an instant guide to how dominant a team is. A team that dominates the ball – particularly in Away matches – is likely to win more matches.

Teams that have a high number of Shots per Game are more likely to score more Goals, so will win more matches. Likewise, teams that restrict opponents will restrict the chances of conceding Goals against them. Shots on Target is also a good indicator of how accurate that team is at shooting.

Goals

The Goals stats are broken down into four sections, and divided into Home and Away categories…

Total Goals
For = Goals scored, Against = Goals conceded.

Average Goals
This is the average number of Goals scored and conceded per match in the league this season.

Under/ Over 2.5 Goals
This tells you the average time of the First Goal scored (by either team) in Home and Away matches.

Time of First Goal
This tells you what time the First Goal has been scored when the team is playing at Home and Away.

This data will give you a clear picture of the Goal habits of the team – highlighting how many Goals are likely to score and concede per match, at Home and Away.

Match-up these stats against opposing teams for a guide to a variety of bets – such as, Win/Draw/Lose markets, Handicap bets, Under/ Over 2.5 Goals, Time of the First Goal and even Correct Score bets.

Corners

Corner stats are broken down into four sections…

Total Corners
For = Corners won, Against = Corners conceded - in total in the league this season.

Average Corners
This is the average number of Corners won and conceded per match.

Under/ Over 10.5 Corners
This is the percentage of team's matches that have produced Under 10.5 Corners (i.e. 10 Corners or less) or Over 10.5 Corners (i.e. 11 Corners or more).

Average Match Total
This is the average match Corner total from all of the teams' matches this season, indicating a 'typical' match total.

These figures reveal the Corner habits of teams – which can vary wildly, according to teams' styles of play. Matching these stats against opponents will highlight a number of bets, including Under/Over 10.5 Corners, Corner Handicaps and First Corner.

Bookings

A Booking is another name for a Yellow Card. Receiving two Bookings (two Yellow Cards) results in the offending player being sent off (a Red Card). Most bookmakers use the same 'points' system for Bookings:

One Booking/ Yellow Card = 10 points
A Sending off/ Red Card = 25 points
Two Bookings/ Yellow Cards result in a Sending off/ Red Card = 35 points
Alternatively, some bookies (notably Bet365) use 'Cards' – using the following distinction:

Yellow Card = 1 Card
Red Card = 2 Cards
2 Yellow Cards resulting in an automatic Red = 3 Cards
Booking Points stats are broken into four sections…

Total Bookings Points
Total accumulated For and Against (i.e. by opponents) all season.

Average Bookings Points
This is the average number of Booking Points per match.

Under/Over 35.5 Booking Points
This is the percentage of team's matches that have produced Under 35.5 or Over 35.5 Booking Points in the league this season.

First Card
This is a percentage breakdown of how often a team has received the First Card.
These figures reveal the character of a team – which can often be more reliable than a team's form (aggressive teams pick up Bookings whether they win or lose). Matching these stats against opponents will help you pick out suitable Under/ Over, First Booking/ Card and Most Bookings/ Cards bets.
